TEMPE, ARIZ – The University of North Georgia women's tennis team was the recipient of three Southeast Region Awards by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA). Holly Bennett was named the ITA Most Improved Senior while the UNG team received the community service award and Marcy Huck was named the Assistant Coach of the Year. UNG is now eligible for national awards in all three categories.
Bennett is currently 16-4 on the season and was 7-1 against PBC opponents. A senior from Kingston Near Lewes, England, she was 13-4 at #3 doubles and 3-0 at #3. She won the final point for UNG in their round of 32 match against Wingate, beating Riann Hsu 2-6, 6-3, 6-3 to send the Nighthawks to the NCAA National Championships for the second year in a row. She becomes the first player in program history to earn the Most Improved Award.
Marcy Huck is in her second season at UNG. She is the second coach in program history on the women's side to win the Assistant Coach of the Year.
