PBC Releases Women’s Tennis Preseason All-Conference Team

AUGUSTA, GA – With the 2019 season just days away, the Peach Belt Conference has released the preseason women's tennis All-Conference team.  Five of the six players on the team come from two-time defending champion Columbus State University, while the sixth is from North Georgia.

Noa Davico, Columbus State

  • A sophomore from Crozet, France
  • Ranked #18 in the nation by the ITA
  • A first-team All-Conference selection in 2018 after going 15-7 in singles play, 7-1 against conference opponents and 3-2 against nationally-ranked players
  • Was 24-4 in doubles play last season
  • Advanced to the singles semifinal and doubles final of the ITA Southeast Region championship this past fall

Vaishali Jorge, North Georgia

  • A sophomore from London, England
  • Ranked #3 in the nation in singles play, the highest-ranked PBC player
  • Became the first UNG player to win the ITA fall Southeast Region singles championship and advance to the ITA Cup where she finished third
  • Was 14-6 last spring in singles play, 6-3 in conference matchups, playing mostly at #4 and 14-8 in doubles play
  • Helped the team reach the NCAA sweet 16 for the first time in program history

Beatriz Lopez, Columbus State

  • A junior from Murcia, Spain
  • 2018 PBC Player of the Year and ITA All-American for the second time
  • Currently ranked #22 in the nation in singles and #2 in doubles
  • Won the ITA Southeast Region doubles championship
  • Was 16-5 in dual matches last spring, 15-5 at #1 singles and 6-5 against nationally-ranked opponents; was also 24-4 in doubles play

Candice Paya, Columbus State

  • A sophomore from Villepreux, France
  • 2018 PBC Freshman of the Year and second-team All-Conference selection
  • Currently ranked #46 in the nation in singles
  • Went 18-1 in singles play last spring, including a 7-0 mark against conference opponents
  • Played 17 matches at #1 doubles with Natalia Kattah Paz, going 12-5 with three wins over nationally-ranked doubles teams

Luise Sachs, Columbus State

  • A sophomore from Leipzig, Germany
  • Advanced to both the singles and double final of the ITA Southeast Region championship last fall
  • Currently ranked #10 in the nation in singles and doubles
  • Was 22-3 in singles play in 2018
  • Won singles matches in the NCAA national round of 16 and national quarterfinals as the team advanced to the final four 

Marleen Tilgner, Columbus State

  • A sophomore from Seevetal, Germany
  • Named PBC second-team All-Conference in doubles in 2018
  • Ranked #25 in the nation in singles and #2 in doubles with Beatriz Lopez
  • Won the ITA southeast regional doubles championship with Lopez to advance to the ITA cup
  • Was 22-2 in singles play last spring with an 8-0 mark against conference opponents; was also 25-2 in doubles play including 9-0 at #1 doubles
