Saints 11th, Braves 12th at the Lady Moc Golf Classic
ST. AUGUSTINE – The Flagler College women's golf team finished in 11th place at the 54-hole Lady Moc Classic, which concluded Tuesday. The Saints shot a 311 today and finished with a 51-over par 915 at the Grasslands Golf and Country Club (par 72; 6,085 yards). UNC Pembroke was just one stroke behind in 12thplace.
No. 2 (Golfstat Division II Relative Ranking) Nova Southeastern University finished atop the 17-team field with an 18-over par 882 (287-304-291). No. 5 Barry University and No. 14 Lynn University tied for second, nine shots back (891). No 21 Florida Tech (894) followed in fourth place and No. 19 Saint Leo University (899) finished fifth. Nine of the teams competing in the field are ranked in the top 25.
Seher Atwal of Rollins College led the 103-woman field with a 5-under 211 (69-71-71). She took home medalist honors by one stroke over Helen Kreuzer (71-73-68) of Florida Tech and Sofia Garcia Austt (69-73-70) of Nova Southeastern.
Pauline Tainton led the Flagler contingent with a 7-over 223 (76-73-74). She finished in a tie for 15th place. Miranda Greene shot an 11-over 227 (74-76-77) and finished in a tie for 26th place. Bella Petrone tied for 52nd place at +17. Kim Jakobs (+18) followed in a tie for 59th place. Lara Ardler finished at +27.
Katya King (+32) played as an individual. Ella Stromfelt withdrew in the final round.
Senior Alexandria Bare fired off a 1-over-par 73 in the final round, while sophomore Maddy Corley carded a 2-over-par 74, to lead the UNC Pembroke golf team to a 12th place finish.
Bare (+9) recorded four birdies on Tuesday final round to jump 13 spots on the individual leaderboard and finish among a seven-way tie for 18thplace – a group that also included Corley (+9) who tallied three birdies in the final round. Parker Melting (+15) finished in a tie for 39th place, Katy Flax (+23) shared 71st place with two other players and Casey Burroughs (+26) was among a three-way tie for 74th place.
Lander Women's golf finishes seventh at Converse Spring Invite
SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Lander women's golf team completed its second event of the spring with a seventh-place finish at the Converse Spring Invite on Tuesday.
The Bearcats were led by Hannah Fesperman, who fired an 85 on Tuesday to finish with a score of 166. Fesperman placed in a tie for 11th at the tournament. Hannah Stephensonfinished seven strokes back of Fesperman, carding a 173 to grab a share of 23rd place. Caroline Hardee finished tied for 32nd, Madison Jordan placed 45th, and Caroline Jenkinsfinished 50th.
The Bearcats finished with a score of 711, 17 shots ahead of Montreat. Newberry claimed the tournament title with a 648, with Taylor Lance claiming the individual championship for the Wolves with a two-day score of 153.
Lander returns to action on March 4-5 when the Bearcats compete at the Low Country Invitational in Bluffton, S.C.
