YHC falls to No. 15 Augustana (S.D.) in bracket final at NCAA Division II National Championship

DENVER, Colo.  |  The Young Harris College softball team wrapped up an historic season at the NCAA Division II Softball National Championship after a 6-0 loss to No. 15 Augustana (S.D.) University Saturday (May 15) evening at the Regency Athletic Complex on the campus of Metropolitan State University of Denver. 

The Vikings improved to 59-10, while the Mountain Lions fell to 44-20. Young Harris recorded a program best 44 wins (NCAA era) after the 4-0 victory over West Chester University. The third place finish is the highest any team at Young Harris has ever finished in a national tournament. 

Augustana picked up a pair of runs in the first inning to take a 2-0 lead. Kendall Comick hit a two-run homer to left field in the third inning to give the Vikings a 4-0 lead. Augustana tallied another run in the third and one in the fourth to conclude the scoring. 

Ashley Mickschl (30-5) picked up the win for the Vikings as she walked two and struck out four in four innings pitched. 

Louisa Disi (13-6) earned the loss for the Mountain Lions as she gave up five runs (three earned) on five hits with one walk and two strike outs in 2.1 innings pitched. 

Emily Harris and Katelynn Hodges each recorded a hit for Young Harris.
