Clayton State senior Ryan King was named the National Player of the Week by United Soccer Coaches on Tuesday.
King was masterful in two games last week, scoring five total goals including a hat trick in a 3-2 double-overtime win against #7 Francis Marion. The senior from County Durham, England, opened up with a pair of goals in just 45 minutes of work in an 8-0 blowout of North Greenville on Tuesday. He then scored all three Laker goals in the win at FMU, including the golden goal on a free kick in the 107th minute, that kept Clayton State tied atop the PBC standings. King becomes the first PBC player this season with two hat tricks. He is currently ranked #2 in NCAA Division II in goals per game, #3 in points per game, tied for #5 in total goals, tied for #10 in total points and tied for #13 in game-winning goals.
