UNCP's Ndhlovu, Mahaffie Named PBC Runners of the Week

Pardon Ndhlovu • UNC Pembroke • Jr. • Harare, Zimbabwe

Ndhllovu began the 2011 season nearly as strong as he finished 2010.  The junior started his season by capturing a first place finish in the 5K run at the Gamecock Invitational on Friday with a time of 15:07.29. He was 29 seconds faster than the teammate Chris Schroll who finished second in the race. Helped the UNCP men’s cross country team place first out of four teams in the Division 2/3 race. Not only did he have the fastest DII time, he was the fastest runner period, finishing ahead of all DI competitors.

Livia Mahaffie • UNC Pembroke • Sr. • Puyallup, Wash.

Mahaffie ran the only sub-20 5k in the Peach Belt over the weekend as she blazed the course at the Gamecock Invitational in a time of 19:58.  The senior picked up her first career win with that time, finishing 18 seconds ahead of teammate Annette Sem.  Not only was Mahaffie’s time the fastest among DII runners, it was the 18th fastest time for all runners including the six Division I programs in attendance.
