Flagler's Taylor, UNCP's Baker Named Volleyball Players of the Week

Player of the Week

Emilee Taylor, Flagler
5-11 • Soph. • OH • Temple Terrace, Fla.

Taylor had three double-doubles in three matches last week, averaging 3.83 kills and 2.92 digs per set.  The sophomore had 22 kills and 10 digs in a five-set loss to #2 (NAIA) Embry-Riddle.  She then had 14 kills at Augusta State and 10 more at Montevallo in a pair of PBC matches, adding 3.57 digs per set.  Taylor also added four aces and four blocks and extended her double-double streak to seven matches.  Taylor is now third in the PBC in total kills, fifth in kills per set and 11th in digs.

Specialist of the Week

Marissa Baker, UNC Pembroke
5-6 • Soph. • L • Naples, Fla.

Baker took things to the next level over the weekend, spearheading the Brave defense with an eye-popping 8.33 digs per set in two conference matches.  The sophomore had 18 digs against USC Aiken in a three-set sweep, then had 32 - more than 10 per set - in a sweep against Lander.  She added five aces against USCA and a kill against Lander.  She increased her season per-set average by .50 and now leads the league and is in the top 30 nationally with 5.33 digs per set.
