No. 3 Pirates Collect Ninth Straight PBC Women's Tennis Regular-Season Crown

ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. - The No. 3-ranked Armstrong Atlantic State University women's tennis team earned its ninth straight Peach Belt Conference regular season title outright with a 9-0 win at No. 25 Flagler on Saturday afternoon in St. Augustine, Fla.

The Pirates (18-0, 12-0 PBC) have won 14 of 16 PBC regular season women's tennis titles since the league went to a standardized schedule in 1997 and also finished its ninth straight undefeated league season. Armstrong has won 98 consecutive regular season Peach Belt matches dating back to 2003. Flagler falls to 7-8 overall and 6-4 in the Peach Belt with the loss.

Armstrong swept all three doubles matches from the Saints to take a 3-0 lead heading into singles. The No. 2-ranked duo of Aleksandra Filipovski and Barbora Krtickova collected an 8-1 win over Rachel Gould and Barbora Krtickova at No. 1 doubles, while the No. 10-ranked duo of Marlen Hacke and Olga Kalodzitsa downed Veronica Figueroa and Jennifer Saviano, 8-4, at No. 2 2 doubles. The No. 15-ranked duo of Kathleen Henry and Clara Perez finished the doubles sweep with an 8-6 win over Esther Santiago and Krista Ingrilli at No. 3 doubles.

The Pirates then swept all six singles matches in straight sets to complete the victory. No. 4-ranked Krtickova notched a 6-0, 6-1 win over Figueroa at No. 1 singles, while No. 20-ranked Kalodzitsa beat Saviano, 6-1, 6-1, at No. 2 singles. No. 23-ranked Henry beat Sebkova, 6-3, 6-0, at No. 3 singles with No. 24-ranked Hacke picking up a 6-0, 6-4 win over Gould at No. 4 singles. No. 30-ranked Perez beat Santiago, 6-4, 6-1, at No. 5 singles and Jessica Gardefjord completed the singles sweep with a 6-0, 6-0 blanking of Ingrilli at No. 6 singles.
