Pirates Win Three Bracket Titles At Clemson Fall Invitational

CLEMSON, S.C. - The Armstrong Atlantic State University women's tennis team notched singles bracket wins in three different brackets as play wrapped up at the Clemson Fall Invitational on Sunday in Clemson, S.C.

In the Flight 1 Orange singles bracket, sophomore Barbora Krtickova collected a 6-1, 6-4 win over Charleston Southern's Olga Makhova for the title. Meanwhile, in the Flight 4 Blue singles bracket, sophomore Olga Kalodzitsa knocked off Charleston Southern's Alia Nour, 6-1, 6-3, for the win.

The third bracket champion was freshman Clara Perez, who downed Mercer's Jennifer Lada, 6-1, 6-2, in the Flight 5 Red singles bracket.

In other action on Sunday, sophomore Aleksandra Filipovski defeated teammate freshman Marlen Haacke, 6-4, 1-6, 6-2, in the Flight 2 Purple singles bracket third place match. Senior Kathleen Henry fell in the Flight 4 White singles bracket final to Kennesaw State's Alex Apostu, 4-6, 6-4, 6-2. Sophomore Jessica Gardeford rounded out Armstrong's action on Sunday by defeating Kennesaw State's Jana Haeckinghaus, 6-1, 6-4, in the third place match of the Flight 6 Green singles bracket.

Sunday's action wraps up the Fall schedule for Armstrong women's tennis. The Pirates will resume their spring schedule in February.
