Nov 27, 2007 Six PBC Women's Tennis Teams Nationally Ranked Six Peach Belt Conference women's tennis teams have been ranked
among the top 40 in the nation in the final fall poll released by
the ITA. Armstrong Atlantic State is ranked #2 in the nation
in the poll behind top-ranked nemesis BYU Hawaii. Clayton
State is ranked 9th while Columbus State (13), Francis Marion (15),
GCSU (17) and Augusta State (26) are also included.
13 PBC student-athletes have also been ranked in the top 50
singles players in the nation. AASU's Johanna Dahlback was
recognized in the #2 spot while teammate Alida Muller-Wehlau is
ranked seventh. Six Lady Pirates were in the top 50 with
Gabriela Kovacs (19), Sofia Haggstrom (28) and Martina Beckmann
(37) also on the list.
Five PBC doubles teams were also honored among the top 25 in the
nation with the Clayton State duo of Julia Chergova and Anna
Redesci coming in fourth. The Francis Marion team of Ludwig
and Vitkova was seventh and the AASU pair of Dahlback and Haggstrom
10th.
