Three PBC Women’s Soccer Teams Named to NCAA Tournament Field!

INDIANPOLIS, IND – Three Peach Belt Conference women’s soccer teams learned on Monday night that their seasons will continue as they were selected among the 48 teams in the NCAA Tournament.  Armstrong Atlantic State is the top seed in the southeast region and will serve as one of two regional host sites.  Columbus State and North Georgia will also play in the tournament, which begins this Friday.  It is the third time in the last four years that PBC teams have comprised half of the regional field.

The Pirates (15-2-3) will host one of two Southeast Regionals and will welcome in No. 4 seed North Georgia (15-2-1) and No. 5 seed Wingate (16-3) to Savannah this weekend. North Georgia and Wingate will play at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, November 11, at 1:00 p.m. in a first-round match at the Armstrong Soccer Field.

After a day off, the Pirates will then host the winner of the North Georgia/Wingate match on Sunday, November 13, at 1:00 p.m.

This is the second straight year that the Pirates have hosted a regional as Armstrong earns its fifth NCAA Championships berth in the seven-year history of the program. It is the first time, however, that the Pirates have been the No. 1 seed in the regional.

Ranked in the nation's top 25 for the seventh straight week, No. 13 North Georgia will have to get accustomed to the big stage on the fly as they make their first-ever National Tournament appearance and look to extend the program's record for the most wins in school history.

Columbus State is coming off a heartbreaking 1-0 loss to Armstrong Atlantic State University in the PBC Tournament Championship match which snapped their nine game winning streak.  Third-seeded CSU will take on the sixth-seeded Lees-McRae Bobcats in the first round.  The game will be played at Lenoir-Rhyne, who is the overall #2 seed and received a first-round bye. CSU will enter the contest with a 15-4-2 record while the Bobcats will boast a 13-4-3 mark.

The two finalists in each region will advance to the third round to be played on Friday, November 18. The quarterfinal matchup will be on Sunday, November 20 against the champion from the South Regional. Both the third and quarterfinal rounds will hosted by the highest remaining seed from the Southeast Region.  The semifinals and championships will be played on December 1 and 3 in Pensacola, Florida.
