PBC Releases Women’s Soccer Tournament Bracket
AUGUSTA, GA – Saturday brought a dramatic end to the regular season with five conference games deciding who was in and who was out of the 2011 PBC Women’s Soccer Tournament. The game of the day was in Dahlonega where Armstrong Atlantic State and North Georgia fought to a 1-1 tie, giving Armstrong the PBC regular-season title and the #1 seed for the tournament. North Georgia will be the #2 seed and host a first-round game.
All first-round games will be hosted by the higher seed on Tuesday,
Nov. 1. The winners of those four contests will advance to
the PBC final four on Friday, Nov. 4, at Blanchard Woods Park in
Evans, Ga. The championship game will be played on Sunday,
Nov. 6 at Blanchard Woods.
Armstrong will host 8th-seeded Georgia College on Tuesday. GC
fell to Flagler in Saturday’s finale and could not keep pace
with UNC Pembroke and Clayton State, who both won.
UNCP and Clayton State both finished with wins on Saturday and both
had 14 points in the standings. The two teams tied in their
regular-season meeting and both lost to top-seeded Armstrong and #2
North Georgia. UNC Pembroke wins the tie and takes the #6
seed thanks to their win at #3 Columbus State on Sept. 9.
Ironically, UNCP’s reward for claiming the higher seed
is a return trip to Columbus to face those same Cougars on Tuesday.
Clayton State is the #7 seed and will travel to North Georgia
in the first round.
Lander and Flagler both finished with 16 points in the PBC
standings but Lander claims the #4 seed and the first-round home
match thanks to their 1-0 win over the Saints on Oct. 1.
Lander will now host Flagler in the first-round game at 4:30
pm.
The winner of the PBC tournament receives an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
