Nicholson, Morrow and Ross Named Women's Soccer Weekly Award Winners

Player of the Week

Kiana Nicholson, Columbus State
Fr. • F • Marietta, Ga.

Nicholson scored four goals in three games last week, all wins for the Cougars and all on the road.  She began with a goal and an assist against West Georgia, then scored twice as CSU knocked off previously unbeaten #21 Nova Southeastern.  She finished with a goal against Flagler.  The four goals were the first four in her collegiate career and came on just 11 shots attempted.  Nicholson has vaulted into a tie for fourth in the PBC in goals scored and is tied for third in the league with 12 points.

Defender of the Week

Megan Morrow, North Georgia
Fr. • D • Snellville, Ga.

Morrow led the North Georgia defense last week with a shutout of 15th-ranked UNC Pembroke. The freshman has assumed the role of center back and proved her readiness as the Saints recorded back-to-back shutouts and is the only unbeaten team remaining in the Peach Belt Conference. Morrow’s defense has allowed a league-low two goals on the year, and limited the nationally-ranked Braves to nine shots with only five on goal last week.

Goalkeeper of the Week

Kirsten Ross, North Georgia
Sr. • GK • Lilburn, Ga.

Ross continued her stellar year in North Georgia’s only game last week, shutting out 15th-ranked UNC Pembroke as the Lady Saints became the lone unbeaten team remaining in the Peach Belt Conference. Against the nationally-ranked and previous unbeaten Braves, Ross tallied five saves, including back-to-back saves in the 17th to keep UNC Pembroke off the board.  Ross currently leads the league with a 0.39 goals against average, and goals allowed with two.
