18 PBC Women's Soccer Players Named All-Region Eighteen Peach Belt Conference women’s soccer players have
been named All-Region as the NSCAA and Daktronics teams have been
released. Seven of the 18 appear on both squads with four players
being named first team on both. Overall, the PBC had six first-team
players on the NSCAA team and five on the Daktronics team.
Columbus State led all PBC schools with six All-Region players.
Armstrong Atlantic State had three while GCSU and North Georgia had
two each. Flagler, Monteavllo, Lander, Clayton State and UNC
Pembroke had one All-Region player apiece.
Armstrong Atlantic State’s Kristin Burton was named the
Daktronics Region Player of the Year. The three-time PBC Player of
the Year and all-time leading goal scorer in Peach Belt Conference
history, the Ocala, Fla., native currently ranks second in NCAA
Division II in points per game (3.30) and third in goals per game
(1.348) while setting an AASU single-season record by tallying 31
goals in 2009. Burton's 95 career goals rank seventh all-time in
NCAA Division II history, with her 225 points also ranking seventh
all-time.
Alongside Burton, Columbus State’s Gina Goforth,
GCSU’s Mary Rob Plunkett and North Georgia’s Casey
Smith were named first-team on both lists.
All first-team players will be eligible for All-America
consideration by the respective organization.
