Aug 12, 2009 Bobcats Round out Soccer Recruits for 2009 MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – The Georgia College & State
University soccer program and head coach Juan Pablo Favero have
announced two more additions to the roster for the 2009 fall
season, sending the newcomer class up to eight.
Incoming freshmen Olivia Holden and Amanda Veillon will add their
talents to the 2009 Bobcat soccer roster.
“Besides their talents and abilities, these two young ladies
add more of what we have wanted to address with our 2009 class:
Depth and a winning mentality as they will make our midfield and
back line a lot stronger and with more options for us to choose
from,” said Favero. “Their success and experience in
their clubs and high school will also help them transition
successfully into the college game.”
Holden, a native of Fishers, Ind., graduated from Hamilton High,
where she was coached by Greg Davidson. Named a Central
Women’s High School Soccer Players to Watch in 2008 by
VYPE.com, Holden was selected ICGSA All-State twice on the second
team. She also earned all-region and all-conference honors
twice.
She also competed for the Dynamo F.C. ’91 Red in 2008 and
2009, under head coach Lauren Martz, widely recognized as one of
the top clubs in the nation. The squad was ISL League Champions in
2007, as well as PUMA Region III Semifinalists in 2008.
Veillon spent three seasons on the varsity squad at the
highly-decorated Parkview High in Lilburn, Ga. Playing under head
coach Judson Hamby, Veillon was a part of three state championships
from 2007-09, marking the first girls team in Georgia 5A history to
three-peat. The squad also compiled a whopping 43-game win streak
during her time at Parkview.
She played her club ball for the GSA 91 Phoenix Red from 2005-09,
guided by head coach Rick Shaw.
The Bobcats begin the 2009 campaign Sunday, Aug. 16 at 6 p.m.,
hosting Division I Mercer University for an exhibition match.
