Results

Carrollton, GA – The Columbus State University women's golf team shot a second round score of 313 to capture the West Georgia Invitational hosted by UWG. The tournament was held at the Sunset Hills Country Club in Carrollton.  Montevallo finished third in the eight-team event.

This is the second tournament victory for CSU this season and the third in the program's three year history. 

Columbus State shot a team score of 635, 13 shots better than West Georgia who finished in second place. Montevallo (655), Spring Hill (685) and North Greenville (687) rounded out the top-five. 

Nikki Crowley took home medalist honors shooting a two-over par 74 Sunday afternoon. For the event, Crowley shot a two-over par 146, nine shots better than the second place finisher.  It is her second title in three events and third overall in her two-year career at Columbus State. 

Kimesha Anthony  posted her second straight 79 finishing the event with a 14-over par 158. Anthony finished the UWG Invitational in a tie for third place. Heather Altiser just missed out on a top-10 performance finishing in 11th place. Altiser shot a seven-over par 79 Sunday for a 36-hole total of 164. 

Kristin Galek was the final team scorer for Columbus State shooting a nine-over 81. Combined with her 86 in round one, Galek had a two-round score of 167.  Ciera Bagley had CSU's drop score in round two shooting a 16-over par 88. For the tournament, she had a two-day score of 178.  Competing as an individual, Jennifer Brueshaber finished in a tie for seventh place. The junior shot a second round score of six-over par 78 to finish the event with a 17-over par 161 score. 

For Montevallo, Meghan Clyne turned in her second top-five performance of the year as she finished fifth after rounds of 80 and 79.  Emma Breen and Tracey Marshall both fired 165s and were tied for 14th while Ashlee Beck was 17th with a 167. 

The third-place finish is Montevallo’s third top-three finish this season, they were also third at the Coastal Georgia Invitational in early February and second at their own Montevallo Intercollegiate in the fall.  Their two-round team score of 655 is also their second-best of the year following the 638 at the UM Intercollegiate.

Flagler Women Finish Eighth at Eagle Invitational

DAYTONA BEACH – The Flagler College women’s golf team finished in eighth place with a two-round total of 637 strokes at the 23rd Eagle Invitational which concluded Tuesday at LPGA International Champions Course (par 72; 6,085 yards).

Flagler shaved 13 strokes off its first round total and shot a 312. No. 5 (Golf World/NGCA Division II Top 25) Lynn University topped the 15-team field with a 607 and won by 20 strokes. No. 6 (NAIA Top 25) William Woods University finished a distant second with a 627. NCAA Division I member Bethune-Cookman University finished in a tie for third with the host school, No. 3 (NAIA) Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, with a 631.

Individually, Jessica Bradley of Lynn finished atop the 84-woman field with an even par 144. She won by five strokes over Fabys Barreto-Guzman of Embry-Riddle, Jada Bennington of William Woods and teammate Samantha Smolen.

Lauren Benetti led the Saints with an 11-over par 155 and finished in a tie for seventh place. It was Benetti’s third top 10 finish this year. Her 155 tied for her season-best in a 36-hole event. Nicole Keyser finished with a 12-over 156, a season-best score. She tied for 11th place. Marie Santacroce finished in a tie for 20th place with a 15-over 159. Leslie Choucard and Marissa Marinan tied for 57th place as each carded a 24-over 168.
