DAHLONEGA, GA – Three Peach Belt Conference women’s basketball players have been named to the Daktronics All-Southeast Region team.  North Georgia’s Jaymee Carnes was named the region Player of the Year while Clayton State’s Tanisha Woodard and USC Aiken’s Hannah DeGraffinreed were named first team All-Region.  All three players are now eligible for All-America consideration.

Just a week after being named the 2012 Peach Belt Player of the Year, Carnes earned an even bigger honor after receiving Southeast Region Player of the Year honors.

A sophomore from Gainesville, Ga., Carnes came to North Georgia from Division I member Wake Forest University. As the leader of the Lady Saints this season, Carnes led the nation in scoring averaging 25.0 points per game. She finished with 624 points scored, which is the 10th highest scoring total in league history. Carnes scored 30-plus points three times and had a career-high 40 points against Brenau.

Carnes is just the second player in PBC history to lead the nation in scoring. Only Joanna Cuprys of Kennesaw State has accomplished such a feat.

She finished second in the league and 15th in the nation in rebounds per game with 11.2. Carnes recorded 20 double-doubles, which led all of the NCAA Division II level. She also led the league in blocks and was eighth nationally in that category.

This is the second straight season that Woodard has been selected Daktronics Division II All-Southeast Region. Last year, she was a second team selection.

A 5-foot-10 senior from Rome, Ga., Woodard was selected both first team All-Peach Belt Conference and Peach Belt Conference Defensive Player of the Year for a second straight season. She leads the PBC in both steals and assists, and is ranked fourth in assist-to-turnover ratio and fourth in blocked shots. For the season, Woodard is averaging 11.7 points and 6.1 rebounds a game, while recording 166 assists and 104 steals.

In addition, she set the Peach Belt Conference career record for steals and recorded only the fourth triple-double in the history of Peach Belt Conference women’s basketball. Woodard also became the seventh player in the history of Laker women’s basketball to eclipse 1,000 career points.

The all-region honor is the third of the postseason for DeGraffinreed, who was also a First-Team All-Peach Belt Conference selection. She was recently tabbed the 2012 Peach Belt Conference Tournament Most Valuable Player.

One of the most proficient shooters in the Peach Belt Conference, DeGraffinreed is averaging 13.2 points per game and shooting 57.3 percent from the field.  In total she is currently averaging 13.2 points, 5.5 rebounds, 2.6 assists and 1.2 steals per game.

DeGraffinreed has scored in double figures 23 times in the 2011-12 regular season. She has scored over 20 three times. A native of Raleigh, N.C., the senior closed USC Aiken's home regular season by scoring 23 in a win over Francis Marion on Feb. 23. The 23 points allowed her to surpass 1,000 points as a Pacer.

She enters the NCAA Division II Southeast Regional with 1,061 points in her Pacer career. She is one of just eight in USC Aiken’s NCAA Division II era to score over 1,000 points as a Pacer. DeGraffinreed is also in the top-10 in school history in rebounds (519), assists (180), blocks (56) and minutes played (2,397).
