Lander's Tolbert, Clayton's Woodard Named Players of the Week

Women's Basketball Player of the Week

Tanisha Woodard, Clayton State

Woodard is the engine that drives the defending national champions, averaging 13 points, nine rebounds, five assists and four steals in two road wins last week.  The senior began the week with 10 points and nine rebounds at Flagler, adding six assists, three blocks and two steals.  She then scored 16 points with nine rebounds, six steals and four assists at Armstrong.  Her two nine-rebound games are both season highs and she had no turnovers while dishing 10 assists for the #2 Lakers.  Woodard leads the Peach Belt in steals and is tied for third in assists per game and fourth in blocks per game.

Men's Basketball Player of the Week

Dwight Tolbert, Lander
Sr. • F • Tifton, Ga.

Tolbert was a machine in a pair of wins last week for the Bearcats, averaging 27.5 points and six rebounds per game.  The senior, the first PBC player this year to earn a second Player of the Week award, hit 10 of 17 shots, including five of six three-pointers for 30 points in a win over North Georgia.   He then scored 25 with six more boards and five more three-pointers in a win over Columbus State.  Tolbert shot .575 from the floor (19-33) and .588 from long range (10-17) and added 2.5 steals and 1.5 assists per game.  He is currently second in the PBC (16th nationally) in scoring, three pointers made and three-point percentage.
