Volleyball Daily Update - Nov. 7

Saturday brought about the final day of conference play for the 2009 season as the bracket has been set for next weekend's PBC Tournament in Aiken.

Flagler wrapped up the top seed and the regular-season championship on Friday, but won their 21st straight game and finished the conference year 13-1 with a 3-0 sweep of Francis Marion.

Armstrong Atlantic State will be the second seed following their sweep of UNC Pembroke. Brendyce Budd had 11 kills and hit .647 for the Pirates while Kristin Standhardinger added 29 assists and five digs.

Montevallo will be the fourth seed as they wrapped up the regular season with a 3-0 sweep of Lander. Carson Anderson led the Falcons with 14 kills, hitting .458, while Katie Johnson added 13 kills. Anna Garrison had 40 assists and 19 digs.

USC Aiken tied Lander for fifth place in the standings.  The two teams split their regular-season matches but USCA gets the #5 seed thanks to their win over Flagler earlier in the year.

The PBC Tournament will begin on Friday, Nov. 13, in the USCA Convocation Center. Game times will be announced on Monday.
