Jowers, Munafo and Roudabush Named Softball Weekly Honorees

Player of the Week

April Jowers, Armstrong
Sr. • 2b • Columbus, Ga.

Jowers hit .750 with multi-hit games in all four of the No. 10-ranked Pirates' wins on the week.  She went 5-for-5 with three runs scored in Armstrong's doubleheader sweep of Columbus State on Friday, breaking her own Armstrong single-season hit record in the process (83). The senior then went 4-for-7 with two steals in a doubleheader sweep of Georgia Southwestern on Sunday.  Jowers moved up to 14th place on the NCAA DII all-time hit chart after the week's action.  She leads the nation in hitting by a large margin with a .608 season batting average and she is second on the PBC's all-time hits list with 316, just 14 shy of the conference record.

Pitcher of the Week

Donna Munafo, Flagler
Sr. • RHP • Satellite Beach, Fla.

Donna Munafo posted a 2-0 record last week and has run her scoreless inning streak to 26.1 after tossing a pair of shutouts at UNC Pembroke and vs. Columbus State. She pitched 14 innings, allowed eight hits and fanned 14 batters with only three walks. Munafo has recorded seven shutouts this season which are new records for a season at Flagler and her career seven shutouts also tops the list.  She leads the Peach Belt and is ranked in the top 10 nationally with a 0.81 ERA on the season.  She is also second in the league in wins and shutouts and sixth in strikeouts.

Freshman of the Week

Lauren Roudabush, Flagler
Fr. • OF • Marengo, Ill.

Roudabush had a phenomenal week, hitting .545 in four conference games for the Saints.  The freshman collected a hit in all four contests with two multi-hit games.  She went 2-for-3 with a runs scored in a 2-0 win over UNC Pembroke, then 2-for-3 again with a run and a stolen base against Columbus State in a 5-2 victory. Roudabush scored four runs on the week and stole two bases without being caught.  She is now15th in the PBC in stolen bases.
