Softball Daily Update - March 16

Conference games went down to the wire as PBC resumed on Tuesday in a pair of doubleheaders.

Top-ranked North Georgia remained unbeaten in league play and overall as they edged out Armstrong Atlantic State 5-2 and 5-4.  Laura Voyles had a monster day, hitting three home runs for the Saints including two in the opening game.  Lauren Dykes also homered for NGCSU in the opener.  Game two was tied heading into the seventh, but Voyles' third long ball took care of that in the 5-4 win.  Hilary Cox went 3-for-3 with two home runs of her own and three RBI.

Lander and GCSU split their doubleheader in Greenwood.  Lander took the opener 6-1 as Hayley Leissner collected 11 strikeouts in four innings of relief work.  Natalie Smith broke the game open with a two-run home run.  GCSU came back to take game two 4-2.  Haley Burnett pitched a complete game for the Lady Bobcats, allowing only three hits and three walks.  Belourse Francois hit a two-run home run.

12th-ranked Augusta State won on the road at West Georgia 2-0 and 7-2.  Game details were not available.
