Mar 16, 2010 Softball Daily Update - March 16 Conference games went down to the wire as PBC resumed on Tuesday
in a pair of doubleheaders.
Top-ranked North Georgia remained unbeaten in league play and
overall as they edged out Armstrong Atlantic State 5-2 and
5-4. Laura Voyles had a monster day, hitting three home runs
for the Saints including two in the opening game. Lauren
Dykes also homered for NGCSU in the opener. Game two was tied
heading into the seventh, but Voyles' third long ball took care of
that in the 5-4 win. Hilary Cox went 3-for-3 with two home
runs of her own and three RBI.
Lander and GCSU split their doubleheader in Greenwood. Lander
took the opener 6-1 as Hayley Leissner collected 11 strikeouts in
four innings of relief work. Natalie Smith broke the game
open with a two-run home run. GCSU came back to take game two
4-2. Haley Burnett pitched a complete game for the Lady
Bobcats, allowing only three hits and three walks. Belourse
Francois hit a two-run home run.
12th-ranked Augusta State won on the road at West Georgia 2-0 and
7-2. Game details were not available.
