UNCP's Ndhlovu and Mahaffie Named PBC Runners of the Week

Women's Runner of the Week

Livia Mahaffie • UNC Pembroke • Sr. • Puyallup, Wash.

Mahaffie shaved 25 seconds off of her previous best to run a 19:05 at the huge Charlotte Invitational.  She was the only PBC runner in the five conference teams at the event to crack the top 100 as she came in 93rd in the 289-runner field.  She finished 23 seconds ahead of the next PBC runner and her time is the fastest 5k run in the league this season.

Men's Runner of the Week

Pardon Ndhlovu • UNC Pembroke • Jr. • Harare, Zimbabwe

Ndhlovu set the UNCP school record in the 8k for the third time as he finished third overall in the huge Charlotte Invitational.  The junior covered the 8k track at McAlpine Park in 24:24, breaking his own school record by three seconds and finishing third of the 260 runners in the meet.  His time is by far the fastest 8k run in the PBC this season and he becomes the first conference runner this year to cover the distance in under 25 minutes.
