Oct 11, 2008 Men's Cross Country Update - Oct. 11 Clayton State won the Anderson Trojan Invitational on Saturday
morning while UNC Pembroke finished back in the field. North
Georgia ran at the Furman Invitational.
The Lakers picked up their second team victory of the year and
have finished either first or second in every race they have run
this year. On Saturday, the Lakers had three runners in the
top 10 and all five scorers in the top 20 to finish with 45 points,
ahead of second-place Wingate with 58. Fidelis Mutiso
finished third to lead the team, covering the 8k course in
26:33. Joey Chino was 5th in 26:35 while Anthony Aguilar was
sixth in 26:46. Au Nguyen crossed the line in 27:47 for 13th while
Jarrid Casimir was 18th in 28:25.
UNC Pembroke also ran the Trojan but did not fare quite so well,
finishing sixth among the six teams that scored. Seth West
was the first Brave across the line in 28:24 for 17th place while
Christian Wiscovitch was 19th in 28:38 and Chris Midegette just
behind in 20th in 28:44.
North Georgia was in Greenville, S.C., to run in the Division
I-heavy Furman Invitational. The Saints finished 15th of 17
teams competing. Kyle Ashcroft led the team with a 64th-place
finish as he ran the 8k course in 29:29. Alan Schmitz was
74th in 29:39 while Tyler Mattix was 80th in 29:54.
