Armstrong's Rumenov Named To ITA Collegiate All-Star Team

SAVANNAH, Ga. - Armstrong Atlantic State sophomore men's tennis player Georgi Rumenov has been named to the 29th edition of the ITA Collegiate All-Star Team, announced this week by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association.

As the top-ranked singles and doubles player in NCAA Division II, Rumenov earns a spot among the 26-member squad that encompasses the top-ranked singles players in all divisions of collegiate tennis, as well as the top doubles teams in NCAA Division I.

Rumenov is the third straight Armstrong men's player to earn a spot on the ITA Collegiate All-Star Team, joining teammates Mikk Irdoja (2010) and Eudaldo Bonet (2011). Overall he is the seventh player in Armstrong men's tennis history on the All-Star team along with Armstrong Hall of Famers Christian Witt (1999), Pradeep Raman (1991) and Philipp Schertel (1992, 1995). 

The Barcelona, Spain, native will be honored at the upcoming 2012 US Open with the other members of the ITA Collegiate All-Star Team during the 17th Annual Arthur Ashe Kids' Day on Saturday, August 25, at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Flushing, N.Y. The day includes the ITA awards luncheon at the President's Dining Room Suite.
