Men’s Soccer Tournament Bracket Announced by Peach Belt
AUGUSTA, GA – Montevallo, Lander and North Georgia all claimed wins on Saturday, the final day of the regular-season and locked up home games in the first round of the PBC Tournament, which begins on Tuesday. Flagler, the top seed in the tournament, finished their PBC schedule last Saturday and locked up the championship. Heading into Saturday’s finale, many spots were still up for grabs but in the end, the standings did not change.
Flagler finished the PBC schedule 6-1-1 for a conference-best 19 points. The Saints will host 8th-seeded USC Aiken in Tuesday’s first round. The Pacers fell to Clayton State on Saturday. Montevallo is the #2 seed following their win over Georgia Southwestern. The Falcons, defending PBC Tournament champions, will host seventh-seeded Francis Marion on Tuesday at 7:00 pm central.
Lander scored a golden goal in double-overtime to beat UNC Pembroke and hang on to the #3 seed and a home game on Tuesday. The Bearcats will face off against that very same Braves team in the first round. UNCP is the #6 seed. North Georgia went on the road to beat FMU and claim the fourth seed and the final home game. The Saints will host 5th-seeded Clayton State in the opening round.
All first-round games will be hosted by the higher seed on Tuesday, Nov. 1. The winners of those four contests will advance to the PBC final four on Friday, Nov. 4, at Blanchard Woods Park in Evans, Ga. The championship game will be played on Sunday, Nov. 6 at Blanchard Woods.
