Miles, Williams and Hanson Named Men's Soccer Weekly Award Winners

Player of the Week

Sam Miles, UNC Pembroke
5-9 • Fr. • F • Christchurch, New Zealand

Miles was outstanding in leading the Braves to wins over Barton and Clayton State last week.  The freshman scored three goals and added an assist in the two games.  In the upset at Clayton State, he scored the equalizer just 28 seconds after the Lakers took a 1-0 lead, then assisted on the game-winner with under 15 minutes left.  He added two goals earlier in the week in a win at Barton.  He currently leads the Peach Belt with 12 goals and 28 points and is ranked 11th nationally in goals per game.

Defender of the Week

Adrian Williams, Francis Marion
5-9 • Sr. • D • Ajax, Ontario

Williams played all 200 minutes as the Patriots enjoyed their best week yet this season.  The senior anchored a defense that allowed only one goal and 10 combined shots on goal in a tie with USC Aiken and a 2-0 win at #21 Montevallo.  Williams committed only two fouls in the two games combined and led a defense that has allowed only one goal in the last 308 minutes.

Goalkeeper of the Week

Ryan Hanson, UNC Pembroke
6-1 • Soph. • GK • Cary, N.C.

Hanson allowed only one goal in 171 minute of action in two games last week as UNCP went 2-0.  He played 81 shutout minutes against Barton, Making one save, then went the full 90 as the Braves upset Clayton State 2-1.  Hanson weathered 17 shots from the Lakers, including seven on goal and made six saves as UNCP won with a goal in the 75th minute.  Hansen leads the PBC with only nine goals allowed this year and is third with a 0.93 GAA.
