Mena, Osmond and Ledgeway Receive Men's Soccer Weekly Honors

Player of the Week

Kenny Mena, Clayton State
6-1 • Jr. • F • Brooklyn, N.Y.

Mena continued his remarkale first season at Clayton State with a goal and an assist in a shutout win over North Georgia.  The junior picked up his third assist of the season on the first goal of the game and then capped the scoring with his team-leading sixth goal of the season.  Mena is now tied for third in the PBC in goals scored and total points.

Defensive Player of the Week

Matthew Osmond, Lander
5-9 • Fr. • D • Stockton-on-Tees, England

Osmond was remarkable all over the field as he led the Lander defense to two key wins and collected four assists.  He collected his first two assists in a win over Francis Marion and led the defense to a shutout of the Patriots, holding them to three total shots.  He then had two more assists as the Bearcats beat #10 Flagler 2-1.  LU scored the go-ahead at the 33-minute mark and kept the Saints off the board the rest of the way.  Osmond is now tied for third in the PBC in assists and is part of a Lander defense that allows 0.33 goals per game in league matches.

Goalkeeper of the Week

Brendan Ledgeway, Montevallo
6-2 • Soph. • GK • York, England

Ledgeway was unstoppable this week, playing 200 shutout minutes in a win and a scoreless tie.  He began by making nine saves in a 0-0 tie with West Florida, then made two more saves in a 4-0 win over USC Aiken.  The shutouts were his conference-leading fourth and fifth of the year.  The sophomore leads the league in minutes played and lowered his GAA to 0.93, tied for third in the league.
