Jackson, Reid and Bissell Named Men's Soccer Players of the Week

Player of the Week

Phil Jackson, Montevallo

Jackson scored once and added two assists for the 2-0 Falcons last week.  He scored his goal against Concordia-Selma but made his biggest contribution with two assists in a 2-1 win over North Georgia.  Playing down a man for more than half the game, Jackson got his first assist just before halftime on a free kick, then assisted on the game-winner to break a tie on a cross with 25 minutes to go, handing the Saints their first PBC loss.  The goal and the assists were his first of the year.

Defender of the Week

Dan Reid, Flagler
5-10 • Sr. • D • Dublin, Ireland

Reid played all 90 minutes in Flagler's 2-0 win at UNC Pembroke last Friday. He marked UNCP's best player (Sam Miles, 7 goals) and held him scoreless with only two shots on frame. Reid and the other defenders for Flagler have posted four consecutive shutouts and have not yielded a goal in the last 382:55.  The Flagler defense leads the PBC in GAA at 0.55 and in fewest goals allowed with four.

Goalkeeper of the Week

Camp Bissell, Flagler
6-3 • Fr. • GK • Orlando, Fla.

Bissell pitched another shutout as Flagler defeated UNC Pembroke 2-0 last Friday night. It was his third shutout of the season and second in a row. UNCP entered the game as the highest-scoring team in the nation with 28 goals, but Bissell handed the Braves their first shutout of the year, saving a penalty kick in the process. He has not allowed a goal since the Lees-McRae game on Sept. 3 which covers 308:05 and leads the league with a .380 GAA and .889 save percentage.
