Hobbs, Samples, Bissell Named PBC Men's Soccer Players of the Week

Player of the Week

Chris Hobbs, Lander
5-10 • Soph. • MF • Cleveland, England

Hobbs put home two game-winners in two games for the Bearcats and added an assist.  His big moment was the goal he scored at the 14:02 mark against #5 Clayton State which proved to be the only goal of the game as Lander pulled off the upset.  He scored another game-winner just prior to that in a 3-2 win over North Greenville with under nine minutes to play on a PK.  He also assisted on LU's second goal of that game.  Hobbs is now sixth in the PBC in goals and points.

Defender of the Week

Zachry Samples, North Georgia
6-1 • Soph. • D • Cumming, Ga.

Samples was stellar in North Georgia's 3-2 win over previously unbeaten UNC Pembroke, holding the Braves to one goal (second goal was on a PK) and scoring one for the Saints.  He began his week with 45 minutes against Lenoir-Rhyne and was not on the field when the Bears scored their lone goal.  He played all 90 minutes against UNCP, the highest-scoring team in the Peach Belt, and scored on a header just before halftime that gave NGCSU a 2-1 lead.  Leads a Saint defense that is currently fourth in the PBC in goals allowed average.

Goalkeeper of the Week

Camp Bissell, Flagler
6-3 • Fr. • GK • Orlando, Fla.

Bissell recorded his second shutout of the season in Flagler's 5-0 win against Francis Marion and combined on Flagler's 3-0 win at Georgia Southwestern. He recorded a pair of saves in the match against Francis Marion as he faced 10 Patriot shots. At Georgia Southwestern, Bissell faced six shots and saved two in 73:25 of work.  He leads the PBC in GAA at 0.46 and in goals allowed with only two.  Flagler has four shutouts in six games played and have a current streak of three straight.
