season came to a close on Saturday. Congratulations to the Flagler
Saints, 2009 PBC Champions!
Flagler captures the PBC title after beating Francis Marino 3-1
in St. Augustine. Its the first PBC title for the school
barely five months after joining the conference. With the
title comes the #1 seed for next week's PBC Tournament and a
first-round home match against eighth-seeded North Georgia.
See more about the Flagler game in the main story on the front page
and the soccer page.
Lander was on the top of the standings for a few hours after
they defeated Clayton State 1-0. Jamie Ramm had the lone goal
of the game on a header just 5:20 into play off a throw in from
Craig Hughes. LU keeper Matthew Atkinson made that stand up
with a five-save shutout. Lander was overtaken by Flagler,
but is the #2 seed and host #7 USC Aiken on Tuesday.
North Georgia and UNC Pembroke fought to a 1-1 tie. UNCP
got on the board first with a goal from Carlos Cipriano but NGCSU
answered with a score from Ben Tayi. UNCP will be the #6 seed
and play at #3 Clayton State.
Montevallo is the #4 seed and will host #5 Francis Marion on
Tuesday. All first-round games will be at 7:00 pm (local
time). The winners advance to the semifinals Nov. 6 at
