Oct 30, 2007 Lander Routs Georgia Southwestern in PBC First Round GREENWOOD----Five different Lander players scored goals to lead
the No. 2-seeded Bearcats to a 5-0 victory over seventh-seeded
Georgia Southwestern in the first round of the Peach Belt
Conference Tournament. Lander will face UNC Pembroke in the
semifinals on Friday at Clayton State University in Morrow, Ga.
Lander, the 19th ranked team in the country, improves to 12-3-2
overall, while GSW drops to 0-18.
Jamie Ramm gave Lander a 1-0 lead at 2:51 and the Bearcats were
never challenged the remainder of the game. Lander stretched the
margin to 2-0 at 5:34 when Drew Courtney scored off an assist from
Martyn Bell.
Lander took a 3-0 lead into halftime after Nick Cook scored on a
penalty kick at 10:02.
In the second half, Ivan Stoykov was assisted by K.C. Dunbaker at
50:25 to give Lander a 4-0 lead. Dunbaker scored Lander's final
goal at 89:09 on an assist from Aaron Brittain.
Lander, which played 19 players, outshot the Hurricanes, 24-6, and
led in corner kicks, 2-0.
Lander goalkeepers Garrett Daum and Clark McCarthy split duties
with McCarthy recording two saves and Daum one. GSW's John
Scharnikow had four saves.
