GSW's Griffin, Armstrong's Birch Named PBC Golfers of the Week
Men's Golfer of the Week
J.P. Griffin, Georgia Southwestern

Griffin won his first collegiate tournament as he was a co-champion
at the Frito Lay/AT&T Invitational hosted by Jackson
State. The senior fired rounds of 74 and 73 for a
three-over-par 147 at the Dancing Rabbit Golf Club, tied with UT
Martin's Brendon Caballero for the tournament win. Griffin's
effort helped Georgia Southwestern finish second in the 14-team
field, 10 of which were Division I schools. He becomes the
second Hurricane to claim a tournament win this year and his
efforts moved him into fifth in the PBC with a 72.9 stroke
average.

Women's Golfer of the Week
Jenna Birch, Armstrong
Soph., Fleetwood, England
Birch helped the Armstrong women's golf team notch its first
tournament victory in the seven-year history of the program by
capturing the 4th Annual Newberry College Invitational. The
sophomore carded rounds of 75 and 78 over the par-74 Moss Creek
Golf Club course to win the individual title by three strokes over
teammate Kristen Sammarco with an two-round 153 total. She won the
title in only her second collegiate start while Armstrong won the
team title by 22 strokes over host Newberry. Her efforts put
her in second in the PBC with a 76.0 stroke average and her
opening-round 75 is tied for the fifth lowest round in the PBC this
season.
