Nov 20, 2009 USC Aiken Announces Addition of Amick AIKEN, S.C. – University of South Carolina Aiken head golf
coach Michael Carlisle announced the singing of Brian Amick during
the early signing period on Thursday, Nov. 19.
Amick comes to the nationally-recognized Pacer golf program out of
Sumter High School in Sumter, S.C.
“We are very happy to have Brian,” noted Carlisle.
“He is a great athlete, who I think will be a great
student-athlete for us. His best golf is ahead of him.”
Amick joins the USC Aiken men’s golf team with an impressive
resume that features winning the South Carolina Junior Golf
Association (SCJGA) Tommy Cuthbert South All-Star Championship in
back-to-back years in 2008 and 2009. Amick finished fifth at the
Carolinas Junior PGA Championship in 2009. He also ended the
prestigious The Blade tournament at Thornblade Golf Club in Greer,
SC. in fifth place in 2009.
The Sumter High School Golf Team Most Valuable Player in 2009,
Amick is currently ranked 13th in the SCJGA rankings. He is
presently seventh in the 2010 class.
Amick joins a historically rich program that has three national
championships under its belt (2004, 2005 and 2006).
The Pacers will open their 2010 spring campaign on Feb. 21, 2010 by
participating in the Wexford Plantation Intercollegiate in Hilton
Head Island, S.C. The Pacers won the 2009 Wexford Plantation
Intercollegiate, which is hosted by Francis Marion.
