GCSU Golf Receives Outstanding Academic Team Award
NORMAN, Okla. – The Golf Coaches Association of America
(GCAA) recently announced its inaugural Outstanding Academic Team
Awards and the Georgia College & State University team received
the honor. The award recognizes those schools whose entire squad
earns an overall GPA of 3.0 or higher.
Georgia College is one of eight Division II schools to receive the award and the only Peach Belt Conference (PBC) school. The Bobcats join Barry University and Lynn University as the only schools to participate in the NCAA Finals and be nationally ranked at the end of the season that were acknowledged with the Outstanding Academic Team award.
The Blue and Green will hit the links for the first time this season Sept. 7-8 in the Kiawah Island Invitational hosted by USC Aiken.
The GCSU Department of Athletics, winners of the 2008-09 PBC Commissioner's Cup, sponsors 10 varsity athletic programs at the NCAA Division II level. As a Division II program, GCSU prides itself on balancing the life of the student-athlete, evidenced by the Bobcats' multiple appearances in post-season competition as well as documented academic success and community-service involvement.
