Sep 2, 2009 GCSU Golf Receives Outstanding Academic Team Award NORMAN, Okla. – The Golf Coaches Association of America
(GCAA) recently announced its inaugural Outstanding Academic Team
Awards and the Georgia College & State University team received
the honor. The award recognizes those schools whose entire squad
earns an overall GPA of 3.0 or higher.
Georgia College is one of eight Division II schools to receive the
award and the only Peach Belt Conference (PBC) school. The Bobcats
join Barry University and Lynn University as the only schools to
participate in the NCAA Finals and be nationally ranked at the end
of the season that were acknowledged with the Outstanding Academic
Team award.
The Blue and Green will hit the links for the first time this
season Sept. 7-8 in the Kiawah Island Invitational hosted by USC
Aiken.
The GCSU Department of Athletics, winners of the 2008-09 PBC
Commissioner's Cup, sponsors 10 varsity athletic programs at the
NCAA Division II level. As a Division II program, GCSU prides

the Bobcats' multiple appearances in post-season competition as
