GSW's Brown, NGCSU's Carnes Named Players of the Week

Men's Player of the Week

Phillip Brown, Georgia Southwestern

The reigning PBC Player of the Year turned in his best week with 19.5 points, 7.5 rebounds and 2.5 blocks per game in two wins for the Hurricanes.  He opened with a career-high 26 points and nine rebounds against Lenoir-Rhyne, hitting 11 of 17 shots from the field.  He followed that with 13 points and six rebounds in only 17 minutes of acction against Coastal Georgia.  For the week, the senior hit 68% of his shots from the floor (15-22) and nine of 11 free throws.  He added 1.5 steals and 1.0 assists per game.  Brown leads the PBC in rebounding with 10.8 per contest, fifth nationally, is ninth in the league in rebounding and fourth in blocks.

Women's Player of the Week

Jaymee Carnes, North Georgia
Soph. • F • Gainesville, Ga.

Carnes continued to produce eye-popping numbers, averaging 36.5 points and 13.0 rebounds per game in two contests.  She began with 34 points and 12 boards in a win over Reinhardt, then added 39 points and 14 rebounds with five blocks in a win over Newberry.  Her 39 points is tied for the 11th-most scored in a single game this season and she now has two of the top 14 scoring performances in PBC history.  The sophomore shot 57% from the field, hit three of five three-pointers, blocked 3.5 shots per game and dished out 3.0 assists per game.  She leads the nation in scoring with 28.3 ppg and is second in the league in rebounds and free throw percentage and leads the conference in blocks.
