Nov 19, 2009 UNCP Adds Cobia to Recruiting Class PEMBROKE – UNCP men’s basketball coach Ben Miller
has announced the signing of North Brunswick High School standout
Reggie Cobia to a national letter of intent for the 2010-11
academic year, as the 6-6, 215-pound power forward declared his
intentions to continue his playing career with the Braves.
“We are all excited about Reggie Cobia joining our basketball
family,” said Miller. “He is a great young man from a
wonderful family and he’ll bring many positives things to our
program on and off the court.”
Cobia was named to the MaxPreps.com First Team All-Waccamaw
Conference this past season for his efforts on the hardwood. He
averaged 12.8 points, 11.4 rebounds and 3.2 blocks per game during
his junior campaign with the Scorpions.
“As a player, Reggie brings great strength and athleticism
with an aggressive style of play,” said Miller. “Reggie
is a very hard working young man, who is very eager to learn and
improve. His high school coach Travis Lemanski has really worked
hard to help Reggie develop as a player.”
Named to the Star News All Area Second Team, Cobia helped lead NBHS
to the second round of the 2009 2A state playoffs. He scored 17
points and pulled down 14 rebounds against East Duplin HS in the
Scorpions’ second round playoff game.
