Aug 13, 2009 Patriots add Wisconsin-Milwaukee Transfer FLORENCE, S.C. – Francis Marion University men’s
basketball coach Gary Edwards has announced that 6-5, 210-pound,
senior guard Kaylan Anderson will be transferring from the
University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee to FMU and will play for the
Patriots this season.
Anderson is a native of Toronto, Ontario, Canada. This past season,
he appeared in 25 games for the 17-14 Panthers and averaged 1.0
point and 1.1 rebounds per game.
As a sophomore, he appeared in 23 contests and averaged 2.3 ppg and
1.0 rpg, while as a freshman he tallied 1.6 ppg and 1.5 rpg in 25
games.
He is a product of Birmingham (Ala.) Central Park Christian School,
where he averaged 19.7 ppg, 7.2 rpg, 3.4 steals per game, and 2.8
assists per game on a highly-regarded 29-6 prep school squad.
He also attended West Hill High School, where he was named to the
Toronto East All-Region Team and scored 17 points in Canada’s
version of the McDonald’s All-American Game.
“Kaylan is a very athletic wing player who can get out and
finish with authority at the end of the break,” said Edwards.
“He is also a good defender and rebounder who could cause
some match-up problems in the Peach Belt. “
Anderson is the 10th newcomer to join the Patriot roster for
2009-2010.
Francis Marion finished the 2008-09 season with a 16-12 record.
