MOUNT OLIVE, NC – Dylan Peppers pitched a five-hit complete game as the North Georgia Nighthawks scored single runs in four different innings to beat Lincoln Memorial 4-1 in the opening round of the NCAA Southeast Regional.  With the win, the second-seeded Nighthawks (43-10) advance in the winners bracket and will face #3 USC Aiken on Friday at 7:00 pm.  Seventh-seeded Lincoln Memorial (33-18) will face Georgia College in an elimination game on Friday at 11am.

Conner Corbitt homered and drove in two of UNG's four runs on the day.  After LMU staked out an early 1-0 lead in the top of the third, Trevor Sams stroke a two-out RBI single into left field, scoring Devin Gearhart.

Corbitt followed in the bottom of the fourth, leading off the inning by taking the first pitch he saw over the left field fence, his ninth of the season.

Bill Leroy led off the bottom of the sixth with a solo home run for UNG and a 3-1 lead.  The homer was his third of the season.

Corbitt capped the scoring in the eighth with an RBI single to left that scored Sams, who led off the inning with a double.

Those runs were more than enough support for Peppers (W, 8-3).  The All-Conference starter picked up his second complete game of the season, allowing the five hits and four walks while striking out eight.  Peppers set down 10 in a row in the middle innings and finished the game with 115 pitches thrown, 71 for strikes.

Brandon Jean (L, 8-4) took the loss for the Railsplitters, giving up four earned runs in seven innings of work with 10 strikeouts.

Corbitt, Sams and Leroy all had two hits for the Nighthawks.  Gearhart and Steven Tomlinson had doubles for their lone hits.

Seth Hunt was the only LMU player with multiple hits as he went 3-for-4 with a double.
