Sosnoskie, Shreves and Beauchamp WIn PBC Baseball Weekly Accolades

Player of the Week

Buddy Sosnoskie, Francis Marion
Sr. • OF • Statesville, Ohio

Sosnoskie hit .688 with four doubles, a triple, eight runs scored and six RBIs in four games last week.  After going 2-for-4 with a double at St. Andrews, the 2011 PBC co-Player of the Year hit .750 with a 1.167 slugging percentage in a three-game set at Armstrong.  He collected multiple hits in all four games, going 3-for-4 with a double in game two with the Pirates and 4-for-5 with two doubles, a triple, three RBIs and four runs scored in the rubber game as FMU took the series.  He had a 1.062 slugging percentage for the week and stole two bases.  He is tied for second in the PBC in triples and tied for fifth in doubles.

Pitcher of the Week

Michael Shreves, Montevallo
Jr. • RHP • Bradenton, Fla.

Shreves won a pitchers duel with Georgia College's Mike Guinane as UM beat the Bobcats 2-1 in the second game of their three-game series.  Shreves pitched 6.2 innings, allowing one earned run on seven hits while striking out 10 and walking only one.  The junior set down the side in order twice and struck out the side once.  In the second, GC had runners on first and third with one out, but Shreves struck out the next two batters to get out of the jam. Shreves collected his second win of the season and had nearly 1/3 of his season total of strikeouts in the one game.

Freshman of the Week

Jacob Beauchamp, North Georgia
Fr. • LHP • Snellville, Ga.

Beauchamp pitched eight shutout innings to beat Georgia Southwestern and had nine scoreless innings on the week.  He opened up with one relief inning against Toccoa Falls, then got a win against GSW, allowing four hits and three walks while striking out five.  He set down the side in order in the second, fourth, sixth and seventh and retired seven in a row at one point before a batter reached on an error. Only three Hurricane baserunners made it to second base in his eight innings.  Beauchamp improved to 3-0 with the win and lowered his ERA to 3.00.
