Welcome to the Peach Belt Conference Senior Woman
Administrators Site
NCAA Bylaw 4.02.4.1 states, “An institutional senior woman
administrator is the highest ranking female involved with the
management of an institution's intercollegiate athletics program.
An institution with a female director of athletics may designate a
different female involved with the management of the institution's
program as a fifth representative to the NCAA governance
system.”
This involvement with management and the administration of
programs includes making key decisions, formulating strategies and
goals, and evaluating performance. The SWA should serve as a role
model and resource to all student-athletes and coaches and be a
spokesperson for the needs and interests of women athletes. Equally
important is the support of gender equity and Title IX initiatives,
as well as the review of the Equity in Athletics Disclosure Act
report.
It is important for each institution to recognize that the SWA
position, while varied from campus to campus, is a very important
one within the athletics department. Additionally, as each
institution struggles to define the role as it pertains to their
own specific situation, it is important to communicate throughout
the department what those duties entail.
